SSGC – Youth Program Teacher (Full-Time)

First Steps works with children ages 5-22, or older if deemed appropriate. The teacher’s classroom usually serves 6-7 students. The purpose of the class is to work on behavioral and socialization goals and self-help and independence skills.  This class prepares the youth for participation in vocational activities and successful transition to adult life.  Integration in to the community is emphasized through a variety of planned activities which give children new experiences in a community-based setting.

SSGC – Employment Services Job Coach (Full-Time)

As a Job Coach you’ll be trained to work with our consumers at their job sites. Our consumers’ jobs range from collecting shopping carts and stocking shelves to butcher’s assistant, receptionist and theatre usher. The Job Coach provides on-going vocational training and support to our consumers to enable them to meet their employer’s standards and maintain employment. The Job Coach completes and maintains accurate and timely records. This job requires some flexibility with scheduling and commuting to various work locations.

SSGC – Fitness Instructor (Full-Time)

The Steps Toward Wellness Instructor (with Health & Fitness Focus) educates and trains persons with developmental disabilities in the areas of physical health and fitness. S/he will work on site at SSGC and off site at a gym, teaching a variety of fitness. S/he will work closely with the Steps Toward Wellness Director, Program Coordinator, and members of the consumers ID team to insure that those enrolled receive training and exposure to relevant information and activities that guide their skill development and knowledge, allowing them to make more informed choices about their health, activity level and improved quality of life.

SSGC – Independent Living Instructor (Part-Time)

The function of the ILS Instructor is to train persons with developmental disabilities to live independently or support them in their efforts to continue to live independently. S/he will work closely with the client’s family; case manager and other support team members, which includes the ILS Director and ILS Program Coordinator.

SSGC – Instructor of Pre-vocational Servics (Full-Time)

The Hire Steps Instructor trains persons with developmental disabilities in the areas of job readiness and pre-vocational activities. S/he will work closely with the Director of the Hire Steps Program, the Pre-vocational Instructors, and members of the consumers’ ID team to insure that consumers enrolled receive the training and exposure to pre-vocational activities which will allow them the knowledge to make more informed choices leading to a better work life.

SSGC – Nutrition Instructor (Part-Time)

The Steps Toward Wellness Instructor (with Cooking and Nutrition Focus) educates and trains persons with developmental disabilities in the areas of cooking and nutrition. Cooking classes are held Monday – Friday. Instructors take consumers grocery shopping, educating them on how to shop and chose ingredients for the planned meal. Cooking class is held at the center and is hands on, prepared by the class. S/he will work closely with the Steps Toward Wellness Director, Program Coordinator, and members of the consumers ID team to insure that those enrolled receive training and exposure to relevant information and activities that guide their skill development and knowledge, allowing them to make more informed choices about their health, nutrition and improved quality of life.

SSGC – Steps to Wellness Instructor (Full-Time)

The function of the Steps Toward Wellness Instructor is to train persons with developmental disabilities in the areas of health and wellness and in leisure and recreational activities. S/he will work closely with the Steps Toward Wellness Director, Lead Instructor, and members of the consumers ID team to insure that those enrolled receive the training and exposure to wellness information and community activities which will allow them the knowledge to make more informed choices leading to a better quality of life.
